Confederation College has been serving the citizens of Northwestern Ontario since 1967 by meeting the educational needs of students in a catchment area of 550,000 square kilometers and beyond. Along with its main campus in Thunder Bay, Confederation College has six regional campuses located in the communities of Dryden, Fort Frances, Kenora, Geraldton, Marathon and Sioux Lookout.

Confederation College delivers exceptional education and training to an average of 11,800 combined full and part-time students per year and currently has a total of 600 full and part-time employees. Confederation’s regional economic impact and contribution is valued at $800 million annually.

The Food Action Network (FAN) brings many groups together to improve access to enough affordable, nutritious, safe, environmentally sustainable food for all. The purpose of this group is to create awareness, support food projects, advocate for policies that support community food security, and act as an information centre for community food security in the District of Thunder Bay.

Northwestern Ontario offers unique conditions under which we explore the challenges, opportunities and solutions for food security from many different vantages. FSRN strives to bring together the resources and innovation needed to engage in these solutions.

The Rainy River Future Development Corporation is a membership-driven, non-profit, community-based corporation. We are governed by a Board of Directors who are elected each year from our membership.  The Rainy River Future Development Corporation is supported by FedNor and Industry Canada under the Community Futures Program and the Municipalities of Alberton, Chapple, Emo, Fort Frances, La Vallee, Lake of the Woods and Rainy River.

Slow Food Superior

Founded by Carlo Petrini in Italy in 1986, Slow Food is an international association that promotes food and wine culture, but also defends food and agricultural biodiversity worldwide. Slow Food Superior is the local chapter, an enthusiastic group whose purpose is to draw attention to sustainable agriculture, traditional preparations and the health and happiness that comes from eating food from the farm instead of the factory.

Its mandate is to promote agriculture to both rural and urban citizens; to educate the general public about the agriculture industry; to assist agricultural businesses; to lobby the government regarding agricultural issues; to increase public awareness about agriculture in Thunder Bay and beyond.
